Free Basics of Photography Course
When I started photography four years back, I was not aware that that there is more to an image than pressing the shutter release button (the button you press to take a picture). I was unaware of the various terms that the books and magazines used. I referred to books and magazines to get hold of the basics of photography. The terms like depth of field, Raw, crop body, aperture, etc left me with headache.
With a little practice and reading from various sources I grasped the basics of photography. With F Stop Diary blog as a medium I decided to create a course to help the beginners start with photography.
In this Basics of Photography Course I have planned around 9 chapters which I would publish weekly every Tuesday. The Idea of this course is to get the absolute beginners move from the Auto mode of the camera to the creative modes.
Who should follow this course
This course is structured for beginners and newbies who seek professional guidance to take their love for Photography to the next level of learning and understanding of this creative and subjective field of Photography.
You could be someone who just got his first camera (DSLR, Prosumer or Compact) and want to improve upon your skills as photographer or wants to get in to a creative hobby or wants to be a pro in the future. This course will provide that important initial know-how that you need to achieve your goal
What you need!
DSLR users would benefit the most. However, the requirements for this course is to have a camera having creative modes to start of with.
So the chapters would be as follows:
Chapter 1- Creative Exposure Mode- Aperture Priority
Chapter 2- What is Depth of Field
Chapter 3- Creative Exposure Mode- Shutter Priority
Chapter 4- How to Freeze Subjects in Motion
Chapter 5- All About Slow Shutter Speed & How to Create Motion Blur
Chapter 6- Understanding- Metering
Chapter 7- Metering Systems in a Typical Camera
Chapter 8- What is ISO
Chapter 9- What is Whitebalance and Shooting in Raw
Chapter 10- Creative Exposure Mode- Manual Mode
Chapter 11- Focal Length, Crop Factor and Types of Lenses
Chapter 12- Basic Post Processing of Images
I don’t promise that you will become a professional photographer but this course would be enough to take your photography to the next level.
I’ll also provide a weekly exercise based on the chapter which you can follow and practice.
This course is completely free available on the F Stop Diary Blog. In future I plan to make an e-book out of these chapters to be distributed freely among the readers of this blog.
